Woofstock Random Moments
by Ashley Sue…
Tails wagging, a tremendous attempt to control the excitement so not to jump ahead at that dog biscuit ~ or worse yet, miss the biscuit altogether as it hurls through the air… the collective gasp as a dog almost sits ~ in a competition where almost is not enough…
These are two moments I caught in random moments in my day at the Fourth Annual Woofstock by Durham Parks and Rec.
The weather was about 5 or 10 degrees warmer than ideal, but hey, it wasn’t 100 degrees like it was for (what felt like) weeks on end. The skies stayed blue and the dogs weren’t rained on. For that reason (and so many more), the day was a hit.
Alongside the three other CCLs, our intern Lisa, a DPR Woofstock planner (with a huge heart for animals) and our NBC 17 Connect Web Anchor Page Crawford, all of our thoughts and clips from the day were caught on film and will continue to file onto these pages and the NBC 17 website.
Until everything is up and running, just know my final verdict is that Woofstock 2007 was amazing. If you weren’t there, you missed out. The dogs have talent, the owners have pride, and everyone had a blast.
Special guests spoke in the opening ceremony (Mayor Bill Bell with a number of Durham City Councilmen), great music added to the experience and adoption and rescue organizations spread even more spice to the day (I will show more of those fantastic guys later)!
Guess what? If you missed this year (or went and loved it), Durham Parks and Rec is already planning next year’s Woofstock… and you should hear the ideas they are are already generating!
Until then, enjoy what is here and keep checking back on these pages over this coming week as we get all our final videos, pics and thoughts posted. And post your own. We would love to hear from you as well!
